Anubhav Deka (b. 1997), is a photographer based in India, currently in Assam. His work revolves around creating setpieces for the imagination to take flight using the medium of the human form, and its position at the crux of memories, history, and cultural change. He approaches his work through the practice of analog photography, which with an anthropocentric touch to storytelling and the idea of the self, enhances his ability to create evocative works. Anubhav firmly aims to explore and ask questions about the state and future of contemporary art through multiple disciplines, with an emphasis on learning and the communal aspect of the process of creation itself. He is a self-taught artist behind the lens, the inspiration coming mostly from brushes with photography and filmmaking in his early childhood days.
He is currently working as a freelance photographer and filmmaker, while focusing on long-term photo-and-digital art-based projects, exploring the diaspora, the act of remembrance, and inclusivity.
